Wine tasting along the Moselle in Luxembourg

This year I discovered a new destination for a weekend getaway: Luxembourg. I had never been there before. Often I think about flying when I want to go somewhere, but with the current drama at Schiphol, I wasn't feeling that. And since I love road trips, this was a logical solution. Luxembourg was on the agenda, and seriously: that city surprised me so much. I didn't really have an image of it, but I never thought it would be so fun, cozy, and especially beautifully unique.
Fortunately, there was a second destination on the agenda (otherwise I would have stayed in the city), namely the Moselle: a river that runs through France, Germany, and Luxembourg. What attracted me here is actually very obvious, namely the vineyards. Yes, wine tasting at its best here. White, rosé, red, or bubbles: you name it, they have it. And those views... Believe me: you want to toast here.
Which vineyards should you not miss?
Caves St. Martin
If you love Crémant, you really don't want to skip this one — that's what this winery is known for. They make this wine in the same way as Dom Perignon, so you know it's good. Book a tour through the underground tunnels, where you get a good idea of how this wine is made. You can find this vineyard in Remich.
Domaine Henri Ruppert
I already mentioned the views, but they might be the most beautiful here. The slopes of this vineyard are extremely steep (which is said to be good for the quality of the wine), and that makes it look truly breathtaking here.
Caves des vignerons de Wellenstein Domaines Vinsmoselle
Crémant lovers: you must go here too. This vineyard has been around since 1921 and makes not only Crémants but also other types of wines. So make sure you don't have to drive, because that extensive tasting is a must here.
Where to sleep along the Moselle?
Hôtel Saint Nicolas & Spa
A beautiful, classically furnished hotel with both an indoor and outdoor pool. As the name suggests, you can also book several massages here and it has a good restaurant.
Hôtel-Restaurant d’Ecluse
If you only stay one night along the Moselle, this is a great base: it is literally on the road, easy to find, and very close to everything.
Domaine de la Fôret
But if you stay a bit longer, this hotel is the recommendation. You can book various packages here, from all-inclusive to just breakfast, although I would recommend the latter. You really don't want to miss the restaurant here (and the wines). It is located in Remich, so it combines nicely with Caves St. Martin.
Where to eat along the Moselle?
Bistro Brasserie Koeppchen
Such a cozy place with attentive service and good food. If you have time for food, definitely take a stroll through this village, as there are many special spots for a beautiful view.
Restaurant an der Tourelle Sàrl
The outside is beautiful, but to be honest: the inside is a bit dated. However, don't let that stop you, because this is a restaurant for the list. From the food to the wines, you are really in for a night out here.
