The most influential pizza guide in the world has spoken: yesterday, the awards were presented by 50 Top Pizza at the Teatro di Corte di Palazzo Reale in Naples to the best pizzerias in the world. It's nice to know anyway, but the most important point for me is that in this prestigious list, there is a pizzeria from our own little country that I love to visit. Evviva Holland!

The best pizza in the world is…

Sharing the number one spot, how could it be otherwise, are two pizzerias from Italy. If you've just thrown a best-pizza-italy into the world, it would also be a bit unbelievable if you didn't believe in your own product in the world ranking. Additionally, 10 Diego Vitigliano is of course located right in the birthplace of pizza and I Masianielli very close: Naples. Although this was different last year, when a New Yorker was still in the shared spot with I Masianielli. That one has now moved up to number two.

Diego Vitagliano is praised not only for his skilled and easily digestible pizzas but also for the kitchen team that consists of many women, the service that is compared to a star restaurant, and the expertise of the sommelier. Francesco Martucci is praised for his Il Futuro di Marinara, a typically simple pizza that stands out because of the roasted tomato cream and because it is steamed, fried, and baked.

And the best pizzeria in Amsterdam

The Italians dominate the top 50 as they should, with exactly 23 pizzerias. Most of them come from Naples and its surroundings, with a supporting role for Rome and Milan. Outside Italy, you're best off in the United States, where nine (most likely) Italian-Americans bake excellent pizzas. But the most exciting news is that my favorite pizzeria in Amsterdam is once again on the list. nNea in Amsterdam almost closes the list at a magnificent number 48.

About nNea, the report mentions the friendly service, the perfect Neapolitan crust, and the extensive high-quality wine list. According to 50 Top Pizza, the highlights are the Provola e pepe and the Oro di Bufala (coincidentally both ordered once and completely agree) due to the pure ingredients and softness of the dough. No wonder you need to reserve well in advance at nNea.
