Netflix Tip of the Day: All The Light We Cannot See

All the light we cannot see

What an insane series is online again on Netflix. A Netflix Original that will be talked about a lot in the coming time. Well, that's already happening; All The Light We Cannot See is online since yesterday and the internet is exploding with good reviews.

The miniseries (it consists of four episodes) is about the last days of World War II. I don't think I'm the only one who finds everything about WWII intensely interesting, so I was already in for this. Recently I watched Inglorious Basterdsagain and that remains so brilliant. Just like The Pianist, and also Dunkirk. It is of course a very heavy subject and it's always a wait-and-see how creators handle it. Well, I can tell you: All The Light We Cannot See does that incredibly well and it really hits home. That is due to the spectacular visuals, but certainly also because of the acting by Mark Ruffalo, Louis Hofmann, and Aria Mia Loberti.

Okay, on to the story: Marie-Laure (Loberti) is a blind French teenager whose path crosses with the German soldier Werner (Hofmann) in occupied France. From the moment she is twelve, her country is already occupied by the Nazis and as a result, she flees with her father from Paris to Saint-Malo, where her uncle lives, by the sea.

The miniseries is based on the book of the same name that I can really recommend; we are dealing with a case of ‘the book is better than the series’. For a night of Netflix, it is definitely worth it, because the chance is high that you want to binge all four episodes in one go.
