Last weekend I had a lovely short getaway, which has now become an annual tradition: a trip to Disneyland with a stop in Paris. So after hanging out with Mickey for a while (and getting stuck in the Tower of Terror which was literally terror), it was time for wine, cheese, shopping, and much more in Paris. Looove it.
And so I have a really nice tip for you, in case you're heading to Paris — or any other big city for that matter. For a few years now, I always sleep at citizenM when I can, and I find it such a nice hotel. I have now tested the locations in New York, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Paris, and they all seem to be alike, which is absolutely a positive thing. As a bad sleeper, I attach a lot of value to a good bed during a weekend away or vacation, that's the main reason I book citizenM every time. These beds are so comfy that we went for a lovely power nap on Saturday afternoon because we felt like it.
Also handy is that everything in the room can be controlled via the iPad: the lights (and their colors), the TV, the curtains, and even whether you want your room cleaned or not. And last but certainly not least: the hotel is very affordable, especially for a rather pricey city like Paris. Really an ideal base, so I didn't want to keep this tip from you.
They actually have multiple locations in Paris. I was at their location at Gare de Lyon, but they have locations all over Paris: at the Champs-Elysées, La Defense, Charles de Gaulle and there will be another location: Paris Opera. This one is on Rue du Croissant (just love that name) and next time this will definitely be the hotel I book, because in terms of location this hotel is really ideal (especially if you want to shop). We were there by car this time, so Gare de Lyon was the most convenient option. But I’ll be back, because I am far from done shopping, wine tasting, and cheese tasting.
