Half of the Netherlands is put off by a partner who can’t cook

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: Half of the Netherlands is put off by a partner who can't cook.

Ask someone what type they are attracted to and you often hear many clichés: intelligence, ambition, humor, that sort of thing. But apparently there are things that we find at least just as important, but say less quickly: for example, that we are looking for a partner who can cook. According to research, more than half of the Dutch population (51 percent) is put off by a partner who is a klutz in the kitchen.

That's quite a high percentage, then. But well, the saying ‘the way to a man's heart is through his stomach’ must come from somewhere.

AND WHAT SHOULD THAT PARTNER PREPARE IN THE KITCHEN?
Research has also been done on that. No stress, you are not expected to reach Michelin star level. At number one is pasta (at 21 percent). That should be doable, right? If you are a bit unsure about your spaghetti skills, go for number two. It doesn't involve cooking, but it does work if you want to win someone over: chocolate (16 percent).

The top five is rounded off with cake (11 percent), steak (10 percent), and sushi (9 percent). So you can play it safe if you want to impress someone with your food, so you won't be caught out if you're not a kitchen prince(ss). And before it gets really serious, you've of course already taken those cooking classes. Problem solved.
