Intense: the trailer for Ed Sheeran's documentary shows his difficult period

Let me start with a nice anecdote: it was August 2012 and I was at Lowlands. Most people from my group were on the grounds, except for one girlfriend and me. This was the edition of Lowlands that was really unbearably hot, so you had to save your energy for certain moments. We were lying exhausted on our air mattress in front of the tent when we heard some guitar strumming.
That sounded pretty good, so we were enjoying this music while relaxing. Then that girlfriend said: ‘This sounds really good, shall we go see where this is?’ We got up (sweaty right away) and followed the sound. After about thirty meters, we arrived at a small tent camp where Ed Sheeran was playing his music. So cool. He later played in the Alpha for thousands of people, but we saw him that afternoon already, along with a handful of lucky ones. We were also very early and were sitting quite at the front. at this concert.
From that moment on, I became a bit in love with Ed Sheeran, but you probably understand that, even at the moment he suddenly took a turn towards a completely different genre with his monster hit Bad Habits. Where has the man gone who made me cry with The A Team? Well, his music may not make me emotional anymore, but his documentary will definitely do that.
It comes out in May on Disney+ and is called Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All. The trailer was launched last night and in just over two minutes, it already convinces me that Ed Sheeran is still just as great.
The trailer also shows that the past period has not always been easy for the singer. His best friend Jamal Edwards suddenly passed away, according to him ‘the only one who believed in him from the beginning and gave him a chance.’ This happened shortly after his wife Cherry was diagnosed with a tumor. She was pregnant with their second child at the time and could only start treatment after she had given birth.
A period that, understandably, was extremely tough for Ed Sheeran and we see all of that in the documentary. Normally, he is quite a private person, but it seems that we are going to see a very personal documentary.
It will be online on May 3. Just a little longer to wait, but I think this is going to be a really cool doc. And a tearjerker. That for sure.
