Ghosted is the movie you want to see today

By

Two weeks ago, I was all dressed up for the laptop, and believe me: that's a rarity. Usually, it's a case of sweatpants, hair in a bun, and the no-makeup look, but yes, I usually am not ready for a Zoom session with Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. Yes, I got to interview them about their new movie Ghosted, which is now online on the streaming service Apple TV+. An added bonus (besides a conversation with Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, which in itself is already quite a highlight) was that I also got to see the film in advance. I've already recommended it to a few close friends.

Because believe me: this is really a very fun movie. One that you can also watch with your partner, because this is not your standard romcom. Let me go through the plot with you: Ana de Armas plays Sadie, who accidentally runs into Cole (Chris Evans). They go on a date, an insane date, and end up in bed together. Cole is completely impressed by this new woman in his life (understandably), but Sadie turns out to be quite mysterious; she only reveals that she travels a lot for her work, and then leaves for London.

Then Cole thinks it would be romantic to surprise Sadie in London. I mean: there’s no bigger, more romantic gesture than that, right? Okay, it might be a bit over the top, but he really likes her. Soon he finds out that Sadie is a secret agent and that he has gotten himself and her into quite a bit of trouble.

Ghosted is genuinely funny, full of spectacular action shots, and if a romcom can always be like this from now on, then I am very satisfied. My overall rating: an 8.5/10. Yep, movies like this make me very happy.

But hey, you want to know how the conversation with Chris Evans and Ana de Armas went, right? I get it. Admittedly: it wasn't a long conversation, but I did get to ask the question that lingered with me throughout the film. Ghosted is so full of spectacle that I thought several times: how cool must it have been to film this?

‘Which scene or scenes did you enjoy filming the most?’
Ana: ‘I really loved filming the scene at the market in Islamabad.’
Chris: ‘Yeah, that was amazing. I thought all those scenes at the market were really cool, actually.’
Ana: ‘That scene is so funny, really hilarious.’
Chris: ‘And the scene where we are both on the bus I really liked. That's a bit the moment where we see each other's ‘real selves’ for the first time, where we argue but at the same time try to save ourselves in this new, bizarre situation. So much happens in such a small space, I really enjoyed filming that.’
Ana: ‘Yes, almost everything that matters in the film becomes clear in that scene for Sadie, Cole, and the viewers.’
Chris: ‘Yes, it's really the first time that Sadie and Cole truly see each other, and that Cole finally realizes what Sadie really is.’

Ghosted is available from today on Apple TV+ and I can tell you: those scenes were also in my top 5, although I think the scene with the lie detector is really done so well. So watch it quickly, because you will definitely agree with me.
