So much money you spend on manicures in your life

Sure, I am one: a nail biter. Preferably including the skin, cuticle, and all. And when I’m stressed – which I am by default – there’s nothing left at all. But well, chewed nails are anything but charming, so I’ve been sitting in the chair of my nail stylist every month since I was fourteen (!) for a new set of biab nails. And that adds up quite a bit, I can tell you. Especially when you realize how much such a manicure costs you if you keep doing this your whole life. The chance of that is quite high for me.
But it does cost you something. For a simple gel polish, you quickly pay €30, and there’s an extra €20 on top of that if you have artificial nails put on. Let’s calculate: for the real fakes, you pay about €50 a month. This amounts to a good €600 per year. If you calculate from age 16 until your last visit at 83 (the average life expectancy of Dutch women), the total comes to €40,200. Yes, really. Crazy, right? With this, you could travel around the world three times.
Gel polish lovers are lucky: their total comes to €24,120; about half less compared to acrylic nails. Maybe this is my calling to switch to only gel polish. With that profit, I could go on vacation about twenty times extra. Then my choice is quickly made.
