Just about the first week of MAFS

Since the Dutch MAFS has increasingly adopted the format of the Australian variant, I really think it's a great show. The previews look so promising again: there is infidelity, people fall in love, people are anything but in love... In other words: it's going to be all drama, and we definitely need to discuss that.
– The ‘experts’ who continuously mention that they have matched these people ‘after intensive scientific research’... I would really like to see this scientific research. I still have nightmares from the assignments during my studies about ‘how to conduct valid research’ and I bet this method would receive a failing grade.
– The chance of success for Ginger and Olivier is exactly zero, and I have that from my own scientific research. Mix a woman who has been seriously ill and is now marrying a stranger in a ‘Carpe Diem’ style with a celibate type, and you are guaranteed drama. Again: this is just scientific research.
– Of all the singles in the Netherlands, okay, I admit: not everyone signs up for MAFS — but then to match two acquaintances? How is this not addressed in the scientific research they are so proudly showcasing?
– Sorry, but that preview of Jack who enthusiastically admits to having a crush on someone else... But then doesn't want to say anything about it? I am so curious about the context, this comes across as so silly.
– At first glance, I find him so cheerful and also quite sincere, and Marissa too. Is my people-reading failing me here?
– Marissa and Jack spending their wedding night in a Van der Valk hotel... Honestly, Videoland, was the budget gone? I can hardly think of less romantic locations.
– Manuela is obviously going to be unmanageable this season and I don't think anyone will be surprised by this.
– For someone who lives a celibate life, Olivier literally takes every opportunity to mention that he no longer knows his number of bed partners.
– Jef. That. Sings. His. Vows. SINGS. Oh, what a delightful show this is. Who does something like that? Where do they find these people? Why are there only two episodes per week?!
