The whole TikTok is going crazy over the millennial pause

I used to think it was so cool that I was born in 1989 because I thought people from the ’90s were all so young. So ’89 sounded a lot cooler, and I was very content with that. By now, that coolness has faded a bit because sometimes I feel like a real boomer when I scroll through TikTok. Or I completely forget that I've passed 30; I see people in their early to late 20s and think: hey, peers! Until I realize that I'm probably about ten years older. It's always painful.

Especially because millennials often have to endure quite a bit on social media. On TikTok, everyone from Gen Z is now going wild over the ‘millennial pause’. We've been the butt of the joke on social media before when it comes to our behavior that reveals our age, but this one really hurts, you know. Especially because I think I've been guilty of this too...

The millennial pause is the short pause that millennials they take when recording a video before they start talking. Gen Z has completely mastered this and starts with a monologue as soon as the record button is pressed, while many millennials need a millisecond (and in worse cases longer) where they pose but aren't talking yet. And Gen Z finds that very funny about us.

But to be honest: once you see it, it really stands out. Gen Z has a completely different way of starting a video: the Gen Z shake. I can't keep up with it all anymore...
