Recipe: how to make a Coffee Mojito

One of my good resolutions for 2023 is that I spend less money on ‘having a coffee somewhere’, especially to go. I spent so much money on that last year and I wanted to approach it differently this year. My solution? Just make it at home myself. Sounds obvious, but I want it to be just as delicious as outside. Well, that worked; here speaks a real barista. I love to share the best recipes with you for the perfect coffee at home.
Step one is immediately the most important: a good machine. I personally really love the devices from De’Longhi: of super good quality and very easy to use. The latter was also important to me, since I'm not really a pro. If you are, they also have the perfect pump pressure espresso machines for you. And also very nice: their devices look beautiful and don't take up too much space. Well, the eye wants something too.
Take this PrimaDonna Soul from De’Longhi, for example, a fully automatic espresso machine that truly has everything you need. And I mean seriously everything: you can even control it with your phone. Brilliant. This is done through the Coffee Link app, which also contains many tips and tricks, as well as recipes.

The PrimaDonna Soul is by the way very easy to use. If you are a more experienced barista (as I now consider myself), then the La Specialista Prestigio pump pressure espresso machine is really perfect. It has a steam wand and a unique grinding technology so that all beans are ground consistently, just like the Smart Tamping Station ensures that each dose of ground coffee is pressed consistently. From my experience in the hospitality industry, I know how important that is; this really makes a difference in the result in the cup, such as the taste and crema layer of your coffee. By now, I am a real pro, I dare to say that. And that's why I share my favorite coffee recipe with you, because believe me: you want to make this. So delicious.
And that is the Coffee Mojito. And yes, this one is completely Dry January-proof, even though the name suggests otherwise.

You will need:
– Coffee beans
– Ice cubes
– Mint syrup
– Light brown sugar
– Mint leaves
– Lemon zest
– Granulated sugar
– Long spoon
This is how you make the Coffee Mojito:
1. Pour a thin layer of mint syrup into your cup (or glass) and add some brown sugar. The bottom of the cup or glass should be covered.
2. Place a cup with ice cubes under the machine, and brew a coffee at 70 degrees (this is called the Over-Iced method, where you brew coffee at a slightly lower temperature over a number of ice cubes). This is the perfect base for any iced coffee.
3. Froth the espresso, pour it into the cup and add the ice cubes.
4. Garnish with brown sugar, mint leaves, and lemon zest.
