These were the most powerful female celebrities of the past year

Today is March 8th, or International Women’s Day, and as a woman, I find it nice to take a moment to reflect on this. That’s why I thoroughly sifted through the Forbes Most Powerful Women’s Top 100 and pulled out some celebrities. They have indeed achieved quite a bit alongside all the businesswomen, politicians, and climate activists on the list.
1. Reese Witherspoon
A.k.a Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. When I saw this name pop up in the Forbes list, I had to look twice because I previously saw her as an average actress from Hollywood. My apologies, because I was completely wrong. This woman is simply the world’s richest actress. Recently, she sold her own production company for 900 million dollars, from which she still holds a stake, so that explains a lot. If you count all the extra gigs as an actress in world-famous films, I can’t imagine what her fortune amounts to. Hats off.
2. Rihanna
We all know Riri as a singer, but with the launch of her makeup line Fenty Beauty, she has really stepped it up. In 2022, her cosmetics company doubled its revenue, and Rihanna has also returned with new music after five years. The song she released for the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was even nominated for an Oscar. What we certainly can’t forget is that Rihanna also performed during the Super Bowl halftime show this year, where she announced she was pregnant with her second child. What a powerhouse.
3. Oprah Winfrey
Well, who didn’t see this coming? I feel like she will never leave this list, and I understand why: this woman has truly made it in life. She turned her talk show into an empire, and with the extra profits from her production company and own network, she now has more than two billion dollars to her name. For women like her, you can only have respect.
4. Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton is, of course, known for her songs like ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ that we can all sing along to, but you can’t just call her a singer. The majority of her fortune comes from her stake in the theme park Dollywood (yes, she changed that name herself) where she invested years ago. Additionally, she received one hundred million dollars from Jeff Bezos at the end of 2022 to give away to good causes and she donated one million dollars herself to fund research for the Moderna Covid vaccine. She’s not stingy.
5. Taylor Swift
In our office, Taylor is seen as a goddess; her music, along with Harry Styles', is on 24/7, so it’s no surprise to Amayzine that she is on the list. After releasing her album in 2022, she became the first artist in history to claim all top ten spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. When Ticketmaster was allowed to sell tickets for her 2023 Eras Tour, the company was even overwhelmed by the huge demand. Not entirely surprising, of course.
