Wow: this is now the most-watched Netflix series

When a show gets canceled, that's often just the end of the story. Unless Netflix comes around like a savior in need, sees potential, and just adds another season, but then only online. To the great delight of the fans, of course: this happened with the series Manifest, which was canceled in 2021 after the third season. Nothing is as frustrating as an open ending of your favorite series, although Manifest — to be fair — was getting weirder and weirder.

But Netflix saw something in it and made a fourth season, which was released online on Netflix in two parts. And that turned out to be a huge success, one of the kind that only gets bigger. Because it could very well be that this becomes the most-watched Netflix series to date. That probably also has to do with the fact that the third season ended with a big cliffhanger... And then the whole series got canceled. Many viewers wanted to know how this would end, and when the earlier seasons ended up on Netflix, many other viewers also wanted to know what all this fuss was about.

The result: million-view numbers for Manifest, which was initially pulled from the air due to disappointing results. At the end of 2022, when the first part of the fourth season came online, it immediately became the number one series worldwide that week, and did so again when the second part of season four was launched last season.

This summer it was ranked fifth among the most-watched series of all time, and it has been rising ever since. So mark my words: Manifest will hold the record for the most popular series of all time for a while. Funny, because actually it's quite a bad series. And yet we collectively can't stop watching.
