Netflix tip of the day: Depp v Heard

Finally, it's here: the documentary about the trial of last year, between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Like many others, I was really glued to the TV every day: quite special that a trial between two big A-listers is broadcast on television. This is related to the state in which the case took place (Virginia): not every American state broadcasts trials. A lucky break for us then... I think?
Because everyone could watch via television, it also meant that everyone had their opinion ready. On social media, Amber Heard was particularly torn apart while Johnny Depp was praised to the skies, partly due to his funny remarks. Trial by social media has never been so evidently present as in this case, and according to the internet, Amber Heard was the obvious loser. By the way, she ultimately did not win the trial, and Johnny Depp came out on top. He did not do that in England, where Depp sued a newspaper that called him a ‘wife beater’ — the judge decided that the newspaper had enough evidence to give him that nickname.
Due to the whole media circus surrounding the trial, I was very curious about how Netflix would approach this documentary. Would they be clearly pro Amber or pro Johnny? Fortunately, neither is the case: neither comes out looking very good. Instead, they focus more on the gigantic hype surrounding it: how Amber Heard was treated online and what the consequences of that have been. So whether you are pro Amber or pro Johnny, this documentary is really a must-watch.
