Netflix Tip of the Day: Escaping Twin Flames

So, this is another bizarre addition to Netflix. I really find it impressive how they dive into so many topics that were completely unknown to me at first. For example, How To Sell Drugs Online Fast, or the Murdaugh Murders: both completely different but intensely interesting (and grim). Another one is coming online on November 8: Escaping Twin Flames.

This docu is about the dating app of the same name where people have signed up to find their ‘twin flame’, or soulmate. It's not an ordinary dating app, but a very expensive one. You choose packages that also include sessions with the founders. And then it quickly becomes grim, as the dating advice is not exactly normal: members are encouraged to stalk their twin flame (if it doesn't happen naturally) and are brainwashed to change their gender. Bizarre. Meanwhile, the two founders (an American couple) are cashing in big time: the expensive cars are parked in the driveway of their villa, just to start somewhere.

Gradually, more and more members are realizing that this resembles a cult too much: many members worship the founders and do everything they say. Meanwhile, they are filling their pockets with all the money. Even though they have now stepped out of the cult, the trauma doesn't just go away.
