Netflix Tip of the Day: Missing

Are many people still going to the cinema these days? I don't always have that impression, unless blockbusters like Barbie or Oppenheimer are premiering; for the rest, I always wait for the streaming services. Take Missing, which just went online on Netflix and immediately caught my attention; apparently, it was in theaters back in February of this year. Totally missed it. Not that it matters, of course, because watching at home on the couch is always a lot more relaxing.

Missing is definitely a recommendation, especially if you like thrilling movies. June's mother mysteriously disappears during a vacation in Colombia, where she is with her new boyfriend. June is in LA and is (understandably) in complete panic to find her mother, but encounters all sorts of bureaucratic nonsense at the various embassies and police stations. As a result, she feels like no one wants to help her, and time is of the essence in her situation.

So what do you do then? Exactly, you take matters into your own hands. Like a real online detective, June tries to find out what happened to her mother. But you guessed it: in her online investigation, she uncovers all the secrets her mother kept from her and realizes that she might not have known her mother as well as she thought.

A wonderfully thrilling movie that is easy to watch. Not a chilling thriller, so you can go to sleep with a clear conscience afterward, but still one that keeps your attention.
