Netflix tip of the day: One More Time

If you're looking for a feel-good movie where you don't have to think too much, that's funny and also wonderfully unbelievable: I got you. I discovered One More Time on Netflix, which has been added very quietly. The concept has been done many times before, but as far as I'm concerned, it remains fun, and this execution of it is certainly worth watching.

One More Time is a Swedish comedy (or ‘dramedy’) about Amelia, who gets fired on her fortieth birthday. In terms of timing, that's pretty rough, and she's quite upset about it. What would she like the most? To be carefree eighteen again, and she wishes for that out loud... Then she gets hit head-on by a bus. If you thought your worst birthday was bad: Amelia definitely wins that contest.

After the bus attack, Amelia wakes up to the singing of her parents. She has turned eighteen. Yep: Amelia's wish has come true, she is a teenager again. She can't believe her luck, she enjoys reliving her eighteenth birthday to the fullest and goes back to sleep.

But when she wakes up the next day, it's again due to the same singing of her parents. Then that dream that came true seems to turn into a bit of a nightmare, because she's completely stuck in that eighteenth birthday and experiences it over and over again.

As I said: not an incredibly original concept, but really well executed. There's still a reasonable chance that you (just like me) will shed a tear. A solid pass for this film.
