Five times I have opened all the well-known travel websites with high hopes to book a week in the sun, and all five times I have completely defeated my laptop and closed it again. I was not aware that nowadays you have to save for about five years before you can go on a decent vacation. What. Is. This. EXPENSIVE! Especially the flights. Where I flew to and from Bonaire in 2020 for 700 euros, I can now easily add 500 euros to that. It's heartbreaking. Fortunately, life hacks are flying at you when it comes to saving your hard-earned money, and the experts at Expedia have released a study stating on which day you can best book your flight ticket to keep as much cocktail money as possible.

It turns out that you can save up to 20 percent of your vacation money if you book your ticket on a Sunday for domestic flights and up to 10 percent for international flights. If you also book your flight 70 to 100 days in advance, you can save up to 30 percent on your return trip to the sun. Last-minute vacations are really 2022.

The experts also add: if your domestic flight departs on Saturday and your international flight on Friday, your flight ticket can be even cheaper. So mark a big cross on your calendar for this coming Sunday, because you are going to enjoy sun, sea, beach, and a few extra cents in your wallet in October.
