Looking for a new job? This is what we want in 2023

A new year means a new, fresh start for many people. What was good and what can be better? Aside from your personal resolutions (at least twice a week to Pilates and really alcohol-free throughout the week), work naturally determines a large part of your happiness. Recruitment and selection agency Page Personnel conducted research into people's work wishes and the results were not only surprising but also support you in new negotiations.

Part-time, remote, and four-day workweeks are becoming increasingly popular
The wishlist of workers is changing. Where we previously mainly needed stability, there is now a need for flexibility. From the research of Page Personnel it appears that we (especially women: 42.6 percent) often look for the possibility to work part-time when searching for a job. The desire to work remotely (so not going to the office every day but comfortably opening your laptop wherever you are at that moment) has also taken off significantly. This is likely due to the corona period during which we experienced the benefits of working from home. Being able to do a load of laundry between calls and no longer having to waste hours in traffic; it all helps enormously with the work-life balance that we have come to value more and more. What is also interesting is that the four-day workweek is becoming increasingly popular. No less than 68 percent votes for a shorter workweek, while maintaining the current salary.

Working more
Despite the fact that people are open to a shorter workweek, more than half of the respondents indicate they want to work more hours. A condition for this is that there are better working conditions than they currently have. Salary increase is a fixed factor on the wishlist, and 68 percent of respondents indicate they want a four-day workweek.

Career to a higher level
The work-life balance is very important to people, but that doesn't mean they let their careers stagnate. Both men and women want to elevate their careers while maintaining that good balance between work and private life. But hey, if the work-life balance is in order, you will be able to work better and probably have even more brilliant ideas.

The research from Page Personnel emphasizes that the candidate is in charge when negotiating. There is a massive staff shortage, so as a job seeker, you can create the conditions that make you happy.

I would say: this is the moment.
