Tip of the day: Poker Face on SkyShowtime

Yes yes, I know: yet another streaming service. I had also made a huge promise to myself that I wouldn't take on another one and that I even needed to cancel a few, but I haven't quite succeeded in that. I have now had it for almost a year SkyShowtime and I can tell you that it really is a keeper. I'm very happy that it's the only service where you can watch all seasons of Frasier (the best sitcom ever made), but there are many other blockbusters and well-known series and movies on it. Now they have come out with a new series, and I have literally only read rave reviews about it. So if you're still hesitating about a subscription: this series alone is really worth it.
You've probably seen it around: Poker Face, starring Natasha Lyonne (whom we of course still know from Orange Is the New Black) in a sort of murder mystery but just a bit different. It's an anthology, so you can watch each episode independently and each episode tells a new story (or: a new murder).
The surprising thing about Poker Face is that you already know who the culprit is at the beginning of the episode; you are actually watching how Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) gradually discovers who the guilty party is. She has a very special gift: she can tell immediately when people are lying. That's why she's also called ‘a human lie detector’.
That might sound a bit... crazy and like a bad comedy, but no worries: this series is really excellent — it's no coincidence that it's been nominated for the Emmys. And besides Natasha Lyonne, the cast includes Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chloë Sevigny, and Charles Melton.
Are you still not convinced after my plea and seeing the trailer? I can't imagine that, but okay: Het Parool is also extremely enthusiastic. The second season has already been announced, so we are (thankfully) not done with this series yet.
Oh, one more extra tip: you can take a free trial subscription at SkyShowtime for seven days. And then, while you're at it, try Frasier as well, because you won't regret that either
