This is what you should drink for a successful first date

Imagine this: you're on a first date and you're eager to order a glass of wine to calm your nerves, but your date orders tea. Of course, you go along with him because you don't want to come across as a complete alcoholic, but secretly you're disappointed with your order. However, your date might be smarter than you think. Research shows that drinking tea (or other warm beverages) during a first date increases the success of that date.
Here's how it works: by holding and drinking something warm, people are more likely to find their conversation partner nicer, more generous, and more trustworthy, which means you can literally develop warm feelings for each other faster. Another study at the University of Colorado shows that people holding a warm drink are more likely to describe their conversation partner as someone with a warm personality, which can only work in your favor when you've just met someone.
With cold drinks, it works the exact opposite way. That research shows that people who only drink cold beverages during a first date find their partner less attractive and can behave significantly less generously and even more egocentrically. This could certainly explain all the failed dates you've ever had. It wasn't your fault at all; it was the wine.
As an absolute wine lover, this hits me hard. Thanks to my dearest boyfriend who manages to put up with me every day, I no longer have to worry about facing a first date with nothing more than a few cups of fresh mint tea, but I am very curious if anyone can confirm this theory. So a call to all single ladies: take one for the team, order a few cups of tea on your next date, and invite me to the wedding if it works.
