So many percent want the man to pay on the first date

Old-fashioned or good manners: the man who pays on a date. In a man-woman situation, this is often still a matter of differing opinions. The biggest feminist can sometimes surprisingly come out of the corner on this and still insist that the man pays. I always find it the most exciting moment of a date with a heterosexual couple at First Dates: who is going to pay? Personally, I would always offer to take that bill as well; it wouldn't really matter to me if I had to pay. In fact, if I didn't want to see someone again afterwards, I would actually prefer to pay myself.

I'm not the only one in this, because Elite Singles has conducted a new study on the payment issue on the first date. Notably: men and women think very differently about this.

Among men, 62.6 percent believe they should pay on the first date, while 46 percent of women expect this. 31 percent of women don't care who pays, 18 percent prefer to split the bill, and 5 percent believe that they, as women, should pick up the tab.

For men, the numbers look very different: 28.28 percent doesn't care who pays, 7.07 percent prefers to split, and 2.02 percent expects the woman to pay on the first date.

To be honest, I expected the percentages regarding splitting the bill to be higher for both genders; isn't that ultimately the fairest? Still, this study is quite representative; it was conducted among 300,000 single men and women. That the man pays may seem old-fashioned, yet it is the most obvious option for both men and women.
