13x shop excuses that we all use sometimes

Shopping and I are like two peas in a pod. If I see something fun on TikTok, there's a good chance I'll have it at home three days later. But to justify that slight shopping addiction every now and then, I've come up with quite a range of excuses that sometimes make me feel a little less guilty after such an unnecessary purchase. Are you also an impulsive shopper? Then the following excuses will surely sound familiar to you.

1. ’But my salary just came in’
For a moment, you feel like you have all the money in the world and order from one store after another, only to blow your entire monthly salary. Oh well, happens to the best of us.

2. ’But I was drunk when I bought it’
‘Having a few glasses of wine on the terrace in the afternoon and then popping into the Bijenkorf is not the best combination. Luckily, we all (almost) know that.

3. ’But I was sad’
You really start crying when you see your bill after that online shopping session.

4. ’But I deserved a reward after all that hard work’
If you've achieved something big, you certainly deserve to treat yourself. Just be careful that it doesn't become a habit and that you don't start rewarding yourself with a gift after doing the dishes.

5. ’But every celebrity is wearing this now’
Just because Hailey Bieber wears something new every day doesn't mean you have to do the same.

6. ’But this is perfect for that one party’
Let me guess: that one dress with all those quirky embellishments you still haven't worn?

7. ’But I love wearing the black version, so I can also use the white one’
Just when you bring home thirty colors of a sweater, you get tired of it much faster. Yeah, I'm guilty of this every time too.

8. ’But I've sold a bunch of stuff on Vinted’
Instead of having the money deposited into your account, you spend it immediately on new items on Vinted.

9. ’But summer/winter is coming’
Let's pretend all the summer tops from last year don't exist and use this as a nice excuse to buy a whole new wardrobe.

10. ’But it's on sale’
From now on, ask yourself the question ‘would I have bought it if I had to pay full price?’ No, I thought so.

11. ‘But I have way too few clothes hanging in my closet’
You have so many clothes that you can't see the forest for the trees, that's the problem.

12. ’But if it's not right, I'll just send it back’
This excuse is my personal favorite because I let everything come in and then 90 percent goes back. It can't be helped that the delivery person is fed up with me.

13. ’But I'll pay it off later with Klarna’
Before you know it, you have a Klarna account open from here to Tokyo and are flooded with reminders in your email to pay something off.
