These are the hotspots in Split that you absolutely want to visit

Okay, I finally understand why Croatia is being called the new Ibiza. I only found this out a bit later. You heard good stories here and there, but whether it would really surpass my old trusted holiday country Spain seemed unlikely to me. Still, I have to admit: Croatia is so underrated. Last summer I flew to the southern city of Split with three friends and since then I recommend it to everyone. Whether you go with your family, your group of friends, or your partner; it’s a place for all ages. So here’s a list: the things you must do when you’re in Split.

1. Krka National Park
Seriously, you really must not skip this nature park. You do have to sit in a cramped bus for an hour and a half, but that aside. You actually get a guide who tells you all about the place. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of a guide myself, but to my surprise, it was quite interesting, partly due to the view. Clear water, multiple waterfalls, and the best part: you can even swim there. Definitely worth a visit.

2. Hvar
This island has always been on my bucket list, so I had to go there. And yes, it was really worth every penny. There is so much more to experience on Hvar than you would think of a small island. The little bays, the city itself, and – for those who love it – the nightlife; it was amazing. If I could, I would have loved to stay there for a few nights. And one tip: book a spot on the boat to get there in advance, because you are definitely not the only one wanting to go to Hvar.

3. Bepa
You have lunch at restaurant Bepa, right in the center. You can come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I seriously brunch here every day, and there are always people. A good sign, I think. Reservations are a must, because they don’t have a very large terrace. And if you’re there, definitely try the acai bowl or the avocado toast: the perfect healthy meal when you wake up with a bad hangover in the morning.

4. Mistral Beach Club
Yeah, a good beach club cannot be missing from this list. Split is full of beautiful bays, but often they are pebble beaches. Good luck trying to lie comfortably on a towel. That’s why a beach club every now and then is quite nice, and Mistral Beach Club was my favorite. Not the cheapest option, but the view and the food made up for a lot. For a sunbed, you pay 33 euros for a whole day, but I must admit: you do lie very comfortably. Additionally, it’s child-friendly; they even have a playground.

5. Bokeria
I had such a great meal here back then, so this gem couldn’t be missing. The reason I’m such a fan of this restaurant is very simple: they have tapas on the menu, but then in the Croatian way. Delicious. And the location is also perfect: right in the center in a cozy alley. I have one caveat: it’s a popular restaurant, so secure a table in time. In the morning you might get lucky with a free table, but for lunch and dinner, you really need to make a reservation. I say go for it.

@margiesmith0917 you’ll definitely want a reservation for this one 🍷 #croatia #travel #fyp #MINDORDERING ♬ Come Prima – Tito Puente And His Orchestra & Abbe Lane
