Why all supermodels are in mourning

Supermodels in mourning

When thinking of The Big Five, fashion people do not think of the lion, the rhinoceros, and the elephant, but of the top models of the nineties. Tatjana Patitz was one of them. She was the one who shone in that amazing Peter Lindbergh shoot on the beach in Malibu in white shirts next to Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and other top models from that time. She was the one who floated down the catwalk in George Michael's Freedom music video. She was the one who was embraced by the other top models (Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell).

She was the one who advocated for inclusion, gender and animal rights, and awareness around HIV. She was the one who cherished her son and who retreated to her ranch with her dogs, horses, and cats. She was the one who could not win the battle against breast cancer.

She is the one who is deeply missed.

Bruce Weber expressed it so beautifully.
‘The sun has been shining so bright here in Golden Beach since I heard the news of her passing. We love you Tatjana, we’ll hold our memories close to our hearts.’

And Claudia Schiffer “I hope she has horses and dogs in heaven”

Christy Turlington: ‘You are unforgettable and for always in my heart’

Naomi Campbell: ‘It was that trip where you introduced me to Herb Ritts, who called you Tatski. I’ll forever be grateful and cherish the beautiful memories. May you have eternal peace.’
