10 things you will recognize if you are a perfectionist

I am one, you know, a perfectionist. Often I am pointed out by others, but believe me: I know it myself too. Now I really don't think it's a bad trait, far from it. Always wanting to get the most out of everything can only take you further in life. But it can also work against you quite a bit. Because how exhausting is it to want to be the best at everything and to set sky-high demands on yourself time and again? If this sounds familiar, you will undoubtedly recognize yourself in the following points.
1. You struggle with procrastination
That one assignment that you already know in advance won't go perfectly, you prefer to push it off until the very last moment.
2. Feeling like you do everything wrong
And I really mean everything. That one negative voice in your head keeps nagging: I don't eat healthy enough, I don't save enough, I don't exercise enough. In short: it's never good enough.
3. You find it hard to take breaks
You only allow yourself a break once your entire to-do list is completed from A to Z. End result: you only have lunch at three o'clock in the afternoon and you're still stuck on a task.
4. You hate rushed work
You would rather submit nothing than show work that is not completely to your liking. Because oh dear, what if you make a mistake.
5. You thrive on compliments
Now this sounds quite negative, but it is your drive. One compliment can make your entire week.
6. Collaborating is not your strong suit
From time to time you really don't mind collaborating. Except when your colleagues are slacking off and you are also being looked at for it. Well, then you quickly disengage.
7. You work late into the night
You were already the one who studied until three o'clock at night for an exam, and it may still happen today.
8. Your self-image is based on your performance
If you have had a good week, you feel like you can conquer the world. But if one thing goes wrong, you are knocked off your throne again.
9. You find feedback difficult
You always have to mentally prepare yourself for criticism from others. And try not to take it personally. A considerable challenge, I can tell you.
10. You have high expectations of others
We all know you have high expectations of yourself, but you also demand that full hundred percent from the people around you. There's a good chance you'll be disappointed.
