6x the nicest beach bars in your area

By

It is almost June (I repeat: ALMOST JUNE) and we have seen at most five rays of sunshine this year so far. But there is finally hope. Starting this weekend, there is a daily forecast of around 20 degrees. For Dutch standards, this is comparable to a feels-like temperature of 30 degrees on the Spanish coast. So, guess three times where I will spend my Sunday afternoon. That's right, in a beach tent. An Aperol Spritz in one hand and a bitterball in the other. And I bet I'm not the only one with these plans this weekend. So here it is, from the Zeeland coast to Castricum aan Zee: these are the most beautiful and fun beach tents along the Dutch coast.

1. Club Zand, Castricum aan Zee
If you want a good photo for your Instagram, then you’ve hit the jackpot at Club Zand in Castricum. Both inside and outside, you have different spaces, each with its own unique boho vibe. And what makes this beach tent unique is the shared dining concept they maintain. On the menu, you will find almost only small bites to share. Ideal if you are with a large group, but just as fun with your family or partner.

2. Beachclub C, Noordwijk
Seeking peace in Noordwijk is quite a challenge, but at Beachclub C, you might just get lucky. It is hidden in the Noordwijk South Dunes, so there’s a greater chance of snagging a table here. About the beach tent itself: a mega trendy decor with Mediterranean dishes on the menu. Not to mention the cocktails. They are fantastic here.

3. De Dam, Vrouwenpolder
Zeeland is full of beach tents, but De Dam in Kamperland is very high on my list. Not only because of the view over the entire beach, but also due to the menu that mainly focuses on fish. Lots of fish. Gratinated oysters, lobster, prawns, sea bass; it’s all there. After all, you are in Zeeland.

4. Kayuca, Zandvoort
Between Ubuntu Beachclub and Hippie Fish (two of my big favorites), you have Kayuca, a newer hotspot on the South Beach where you really feel like you are in Ibiza due to the amazing interior. Who wouldn’t want that? A tip from me to you: order the poké bowl. It’s so delicious.

5. R Port Beach, Hoek van Holland
For the best location, I recommend R Port. Here you have a view of the Rotterdam harbor, so there’s always something to see. There’s a chill vibe and the staff is known for having your plate ready in no time. Always nice. And oh yes, for the vegans among us: at R Port, you have plenty of veggie options that are not too obvious.

6. Renato’s Beach Club, Bloemendaal
Renato’s already has a few locations in Amsterdam and Nijmegen, with the newest addition being a beach tent in Bloemendaal. In terms of food, they have an extensive menu mainly featuring Italian dishes, think burratas, raviolis, pizzas, and homemade pastas. There is live music and they have their own playground for the kids. So you can enjoy your wine to the fullest.
