Although I'm still a long way from parenthood (that became very clear to me again recently when dozens of paper airplanes flew around my ears at a birthday party, tantrums erupted over leaving, and ice cream was smeared on my girlfriend's brand new couch), I always find it very nice to think about the sweetest baby names. An impossible task, it seems to me. How do you ensure that you give your child a name that you will always like? To make this search easier, I once made a list of the cutest names for your summer baby and now there's another theme on the agenda: all baby names that mean ‘happiness’. How beautiful is that?

1. Iris
My niece is named Iris and she is the sweetest and cutest girl ever. That's why I might be a bit biased, but let's be honest: with a name that means ‘rainbow’, it can only be that you give your child a kickstart for a happy life, right?

2. Evangeline
An out-of-the-box Greek name that means ‘bringer of good news’.

3. Jade
This was already on my list, purely because I find it so sweet-sounding. Additionally, Jade is a gemstone that brings wisdom and clarity, and who can say they are named after a gemstone? Instant popularity points.

4. Kiara
Kiara (or however you want to spell the name; people are very creative these days) is an Italian name that means ‘light’.

5. Felicity
This name has a Latin origin with a straightforward meaning: happiness.

6. Clover
Oh yes, all my Totally Spies dreams come true with this name. Clover means ‘clover’, the plant that, if you find one with four leaves, brings luck.

7. Amber
After the whole Amber Heard/Johnny Depp scandal, I would personally think twice about giving this name to my cloud of a baby, but for enthusiasts: Amber is also a gemstone that brings luck.

8. Asher
For the coolest boys: Asher is a Hebrew name that means joy and happiness.

9. Felix
And Felix means the same, but is of Latin origin.

10. Quinn
I LOVE this name. It can be used for boys and girls and means intellect and intelligence.

11. Chance
For lovers of English names: Chance literally means ‘luck’. I can't make it easier than that.

12. Bennett
This Latin name means ‘blessed’ and can be shortened to ‘Ben’, which I actually find quite cute.

13. Seven
How cool is this name? Besides the fact that it stands for ‘lucky number seven’, it also means: ‘inner wisdom’.

14. Arley
I see the coolest boy in the class with this name. Arley means ‘the promise of all the beautiful things to come’ and I almost get emotional about how beautiful I find that meaning. Shit, am I starting to get butterflies?
