Oh noooo: this is what remote workers look like in 2100

So you thought working from home was the ultimate? Or that you could travel the world and work from wherever you want? Well, I totally get it, because I think it's great too, but it turns out it’s not always good for your body. In fact, according to research, our bodies will look very different in 2100, which is due to remote work.

This research was conducted by Furniture at Work, because they wanted to point out the risks that come with working from home. Why would working from home be so bad for us and working in the office less so? That’s because very few people actually set up their home office (or anywhere in the world) for work. Offices often have a good desk, a good chair, in short: a good working environment. People who work from home often invest much less in that, and that doesn’t necessarily benefit our bodies.

Just take a look at the photo below. This person has been named Anna, and Anna works from home. Anna doesn’t look great.

Anna has a bit of a hunch in her back, significant bags under her eyes, dark circles around her eyes, and her hands are chronically in a claw position. Is this seriously our future perspective? I don’t even think it takes that long for it to be 2100. To be honest, this makes me a bit anxious.

That back issue is because Anna has worked too much from bed, and her eyes (which are also quite red) are the result of staring at a screen all day. Because she doesn’t get much outside and doesn’t get a lot of fresh air, Anna has gained quite a bit of weight.

Oh help… It’s me. I am Anna. Better said: I will become Anna. And I am now going to order a good office chair for myself.
