This movie has been declared the funniest movie ever

Nothing is as difficult to judge as comedies: it's always so personal. Everyone has their own kind of humor, so where one person laughs at Frasier (my favorite series), another goes wild for Seinfeld (which I find absolutely terrible). Well, to each their own, and the same goes for comedy films.
But there are a few that everyone agrees on: these films are great. Website TimeOuthas made a top 100 of them, so you can actually see it as the ultimate comedy bucket list. Starting with the numero uno; this is one that I have actually never seen.
To be honest, I have heard of it, but I didn't know that people were so enthusiastic about it that it deserves the number one spot. It's the film This Is Spinal Tap, from 1984, by and with Rob Reiner. According to TimeOut: ‘If you ask: how much funnier could this film have been, the answer is: not. Not funnier than this. […] Our experts have voted and the winner is this mockumentary — and it wasn't even a close call with the rest.’
Okay okay, clear language. This film is about the greatest rock band that England has ever known, the fictional Spinal Tap. So expect a lot of rock ’n roll, a lot of absurdity, a lot of dry humor (because British) and some music here and there. Sounds really fun, so it's going on my list.
The top three is completed by Airplane! from 1980, a film I've heard a lot about. This was Leslie Nielsen at his peak. Also a lot of absurdity and the most bizarre, dry jokes. Really a must-see, what a fun film.
Number three is one that many will also know: Monty Python’s Life of Brian, from 1979. Yep, the recurring theme in this top three is absurdity, because this film is also just so weird (and very fun). In my opinion, a film you absolutely must see.
What struck me further about this top 100 (which you can see completely here) is that few recent films score high. Borat is still reasonably high, at number 11, but that one also comes from 2006. Booksmart from 2019 is the most recent, which is at 2019. No The Hangover to be found in this list, and Mean Girls is just in there, namely at number 99. Hmm… I think I would compile a different list myself, but it seems clear that a good comedy should be made again.
