First aid in selling your house (+ styling tips)

Where our new house is bought, our old pearl goes up for sale. First stop: the photos for Funda. Super important, because you sell a house for 75 percent through the photos. A bit of tidying up and sorting (don’t panic, it’s only chaos) you might think at first, but there are also a few styling tips and tricks that are at least as important. In fact: according to the realtor, the sale of your house can suddenly become the pearl of Funda through the points below, and a Vtwonen report is nothing compared to it. Curious what the styling secret of the professionals is? I’ll take you through it in ten points:
1. Keep it ‘impersonal’ and remove photos, cards, and crafts.
2. Invest (or very poorly: buy and return it after the photo moment) in a nice mirror for a somewhat smaller space. This creates an optical illusion of a larger room.
3. Go for green. A nice new plant not only provides an extra statement in the house but also makes people feel much more at ease in a space. Scientific research has shown that a store with more plants sells significantly better than a store that sold the same products without plants in the house.
4. Walls that are white or neutral in color sell better than your own preferred color. A bucket of latex paint does wonders here and will give the buyer the feeling that they can move into your house without having to do anything.
5. Don’t forget to fill your fruit bowl with fresh fruit.
6. Place a nice vase with flowers on the table.
7. And put a new candle in the candlestick for a fresh final touch.
8. Clear your clutter into suitcases, your car, or if necessary, your neighbors‘ shed and skip ’a corner' in the house in all cases.
9. Empty your bathroom shelf and leave two or three nice bottles for an extra hotel chic feel.
10. And last but certainly not least: no faded bedding or trampled carpet. A nice bedspread on your bed, a cleaned carpet, and a few new cushions on the couch will definitely work wonders.
