See: the first trailer of The Little Mermaid

That was quite a nice surprise during the Oscars: Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy took the stage and showed the very first official trailer of The Little Mermaid. Fiiiiinally. Now I must honestly admit that I don't always enjoy the real-life versions of Disney films. In fact, I don't think there's been one that I really liked. Pinocchio (by Guillermo del Toro) won an award yesterday, so I have high hopes that it will change my mind... From the looks of the trailer for The Little Mermaid, it might just do that.
Okay, to be very honest: I had to swallow for a moment. The first few seconds of the trailer are really mega intense and you don't really recognize the cheerful Disney film in it. On top of that, Prince Eric was for me the most handsome Disney prince ever, so it was to be expected that his real-life version could never compare.
Now that we're at it: I really have a gi-gan-ti-c phobia of fish. Really extreme. I don't dare to swim in the sea, I don't dare to go into an aquarium, I can't even watch fish on TV... This version of Flounder makes me somewhat uneasy. But then you hear the first notes of Part Of Your World and I immediately feel that Disney magic again. Yes, this could be a hit.
