Vandaag tippen we Badia Hill Hotel Zuid-Tirol

People often say that mountain air does a person a world of good, and I can fully agree with that. Two weeks ago, I slept in the mountains and I have never returned so zen. This is also because I really took my time to relax there, which was unavoidable; I was sleeping in Badia Hill, Zuid-Tirol (in the village of Alta Badia), and it was such a delight. You can also ski in this area, but I decided to skip that. I was simply too busy relaxing, swimming in the infinity pool, and eating and drinking.

Because you can definitely eat and drink well here. They have two restaurants next to each other: one is a wine bar and the other is fine dining. I can recommend both; the wine bar has many dishes to share and it was truly delicious. From the steak tartare to the asparagus, everything was very well seasoned. I did experience a bit of spontaneous choice stress when I saw the wine list, as the options were quite endless — fortunately, the staff can advise you well.

I didn’t have that choice stress at restaurant Porcino, where we had four courses (excluding amuse-bouches), because we opted for the wine pairing; much easier. Fun detail: the chef is the owner of Badia Hill together with his wife, and he gained experience in the Netherlands, at De Librije. You immediately get a sense of the level of the kitchen here: truly incredibly delicious. I always love it when the restaurant in your hotel is good, because then you can roll into bed after a night of extensive drinks and dining.

During the day, I relaxed a bit and worked (which isn’t a punishment, I’ve never sat so relaxed with my laptop) in the wellness area. They have an infinity pool that overlooks the mountains. We were late in the season, but still saw quite a few people coming down from the slopes. That view never gets boring, but you can conclude that yourself when you see the photos. Honestly, I already miss it.

So if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway that isn’t too far (you can fly to Innsbruck and that’s just an hour away): this will be my standard go-to. Yes, even if you’re not a skier like me and definitely also outside the ski season, because the nature is truly beautiful. I felt completely like Maria von Trapp with this backdrop and I played The Sound of Music soundtrack every morning. I already miss it.
