6x why sleeping in a B&B can also be very fun

Here we are again with B&B Vol Liefde, I hear you thinking. No worries: this time no complaints about Mount Joy or Walter handing out hugs again. No, today I will mention something positive about the program. Besides the fact that it is mainly a treat for the television, it also feels like a kind of commercial for bed and breakfasts. And RTL does this well, because suddenly I feel like booking a B&B for my next vacation. Seriously, the program has made me look at them in a whole different light. Previously, I found such a bed and breakfast rather quaint and old-fashioned, and now I can totally see myself going. Or well, I don't see myself staying in Martijn's Thai guesthouse anytime soon, but a villa like Marian's in Portugal, that's just fantastic? Here I present to you: the reasons why you should choose a B&B more often instead of a hotel.

1. Personal attention
A small dose of attention, we all love that from time to time. And that is what you are immersed in at a bed & breakfast. Cake upon arrival? Absolutely. Clean towels at no extra cost? Of course. These people didn't start a bed and breakfast for nothing. Hospitality is their second language.

2. The breakfast
Sometimes the breakfast at a hotel can be such a disappointment. Dry croissants that feel like they've been there for three days or standing in line for half an hour at the coffee machine, also something like that. At a B&B, on the other hand, everything is freshly prepared in the morning and you can eat this either alone or together in the breakfast room. The choice is yours.

3. The location
Name a crazy sleeping place and there's a good chance there's a B&B made out of it somewhere in the world. That's the fun part: you find them everywhere and nowhere in the most crazy places. So during a staycation in the Netherlands, choose a bed and breakfast from now on. Before you know it, you're lying in a beautiful country house or an old historic building. Want to?

4. Homely atmosphere
You are essentially sleeping in someone's home, so it's no wonder that there is a different atmosphere than in a hotel. You can also notice this in the program itself. Such a house like Debbie's, for example. It's not my taste, but still, there is such a nice atmosphere that it seems mega relaxed to spend a night there.

5. Not more expensive than a hotel
This is often a misconception. Sure, at a B&B you do pay partly for the service, but at the end of the day, an overnight stay is not more expensive than at a hotel. Just think of the minibar, for example, or the parking costs. At a hotel, you pay a fortune for these.

6. Unique rooms
Originality is hard to find in most hotels. Logical too. Try to stay unique when you have to furnish a hundred rooms. However, at a bed & breakfast, it remains a surprise where you end up. The photos give away a bit here and there, but in most cases, each room is arranged in a different way. Ah, I do like that ignorance.

Convinced yet? Yes? Great, because here you can book the well-known B&Bs as we speak. Perhaps there's still a spot available with cuddly bear Walter. My preference goes to Marian's. Or Debbie's. I can't choose.
