6 things you want to know about Ferry 2

By
Ferry

Just a little longer to wait and then the most famous drug lord of Brabant is back. On December 20, ‘Ferry 2’ finally premieres on Netflix. Ferry has lost his drug empire, but is drawn back into the criminal world when his niece Jezebel needs him. It's high time to prepare yourself with a few facts for this new dose of drama.

King of the Camping

That Ferry has a good grip on drug trafficking is no longer a secret. But he now also seems to have entirely different talents: singing. In Renze's talk show, he premiered the single ‘King of the Camping’. As a self-proclaimed ‘king’, this title is of course tailor-made for him. The song was written by Leon Paul Palmen, who also worked with Suzan & Freek and Roxeanne Hazes, so it could very well become a hit. Although it will still be quite a battle with Martin Morero, but knowing Ferry, he won't shy away from this fight.

New faces and old acquaintances

A Ferry film cannot exist without Frank Lammers, but he is not the only cast member we will see again. Huub Smit will also reprise his role as Dennis de Vries, a good friend and Ferry's right-hand man. Furthermore, this time we will also meet a lot of new (young) actors. The most important of which is Aiko Mila Beemsterboer. She plays the role of Jezebel, who goes to ask her great-uncle for help when she finds herself in the drug world. Tobias Kersloot, Marouane Meftah, Hamza Othman, Jonas Smulders, Kendrick Etmon, and Charlie-Chan Dagelet will also appear in the film. Perhaps the big absentee, at least it seems so, is Elise Schaap. Her character Danielle is nowhere to be seen in the trailers and promotions, and after the breakup of their characters in Undercover, we will most likely not see her again.

The Ferry Bouwman timeline

If there is one thing the makers of the Ferry films and series are good at, it is playing with time. After ‘Undercover’, we made two trips to the past. In ‘Ferry’ and ‘Ferry: The Series’, we see how he ended up in the (Brabant) drug world and how his empire grew so large. For this new film, we are jumping back to the ‘present’ and the story continues where it left off after ‘Undercover’. So, for those who want to watch everything in the right order, we will summarize everything. The first film ‘Ferry’ is the start of everything, and the eponymous series connects perfectly to it. Then Bob (Tom Waes) and Kim (Anna Drijver) go undercover in hopes of catching the drug lord. To then see in this new film how Ferry tries to leave the criminal life behind. Well, tries to.

More personal struggles

Where we mainly know Ferry as a cunning and tough criminal, we will now also see him from a different side. He will still go hard against his enemies, but his conscience makes it difficult for him this time. He wants to do everything he can to help his niece, but there is one secret she absolutely must not know: Ferry was involved in the death of Jezebel's father Jurgen. That weighs heavily on his shoulders. And as if that weren't enough, the criminal world has also changed significantly over the years. This means all sorts of new pitfalls that will not make things easier for Ferry.

Out of Brabant

The criminal life is not the only thing Ferry has left behind; his beloved Brabant also seems far away now. The story takes place partly in Spain, where he tries to lead a quiet life. Furthermore, most of the filming took place in the Belgian part of Limburg. A closed swimming paradise in Terneuzen in Zeeland also served as the backdrop for the film. But no worries, his characteristic accent has never disappeared. You can take Ferry out of Brabant Brabant, but you can't take Brabant out of Ferry.

Special promotion

It seemed like a bit of chaos in Eindhoven last weekend. A caravan crashed right in the center. But it quickly turned out to be not that bad. The camper had crashed into a billboard for, you guessed it, ‘Ferry 2’. Fans could also take a look inside, and the decor was fully themed. This is not the first time the makers have opted for a special promotion. For ‘Undercover’, a huge banner was hung in Eindhoven, and notes with a photo of Bob and Kim appeared in Brabant supermarkets. At the bottom was a phone number that led to a voicemail message from Ferry himself. After this new action, we really can't ignore it anymore: ‘Ferry 2’ will be available on Netflix from December 20.
