Bachelor talk: we never expected this exit(s)
Episode 9

It is getting quieter in the villa, as there are now only eight women left. It is not surprising that it is becoming increasingly important for everyone to get some time alone with their favorite bachelor. Femke gets the offer to go on a road trip with Rien, and that sounds very fun and romantic. Paul gives Oelinda the chance to finally go on a date with him, without this date being hijacked by others. This jab ignites Roos’ fighting spirit, and in response, she looks slightly threatening (her signature look) at Paul. Oelinda hears that she can go skydiving with Paul, and she is also incredibly excited about this. Respect for that, because no matter how in love I would be, there is zero percent chance that I would let myself be swept away by my beloved in that. However, it is a clever plan by Paul, as it seems that you fall in love faster when you do an exciting activity together.
During the skydiving, Paul screams so loudly that I briefly wonder if he is going to faint. In the back of my mind, I keep in mind that the purpose of the program is for only one girl to be left for Paul... At one point, when it seems like something is wrong with Oelinda's parachute (she is circling very hard in the air), images of one of the summer cliffs from GTST flash through my mind, where a character's parachute was sabotaged. That did not end well. Fortunately, Oelinda lands safely on both feet and celebrates by jumping into Paul's arms.
The road trip of Rien and Femke is going much more calmly. They drink a juice at a cozy market. Fortunately, baby Rien has left his crazy little instrument at home today, but to keep it a bit childish, he gives Femke something he found on the ground. Really a fantastic gift.
Fortunately, there is also time for the group date. This week's activity is golfing. All the women secretly assumed that this must have been Paul's idea due to his preppy nature, but upon arrival, it turns out that Paul has never touched a golf club. At camp Rien, Roos starts making increasingly threatening remarks: she now compares golfing to boxing: ‘At first you think: what am I doing?, but suddenly you have the feeling.’ They both involve hitting, so it is clear that hitting is a passion of hers. Combined with squinted eyes, it still feels like a threat.
When it is time for the drinks in the women's villa, Rien and Paul are shocked when they are confronted with the fact that all the women they sent away are really gone. ‘Where is everyone?!’ they shout, while it is barely an hour later that it is already time for the rose ceremony where they will send women away again. Eline is incredibly surprised when Paul gives her the first rose, stating that he finds what they have special. Rien tells Milan that he still has images in his head of the special moments they have experienced together; the other women can only guess what he means by that. In any case, she receives his first rose.
In the end, Paul sends Oelinda away. I don't find it a surprising choice, as I think Paul is far too rational for an emotional person like Oelinda. For Rien, the choice is a bit more difficult. Two quite angry women look at him sternly: Roos with her poisonous snake eyes and Amber who seems to be able to spit fire. Fortunately for all bystanders, Amber receives the last rose, so nothing gets set on fire, but Paul is not reassured by Roos‘ reaction and looks at her anxiously during the farewell – as if he finds it scary what she is capable of now that she is being sent away disappointed. For both men, three women remain, and the women congratulate each other while we hear a karaoke version of ’Chasing Pavements' that seems to have been sung by the women themselves.
The preview for next week is again very promising: Paul is in shock from a comment by Rien. If I had to guess what it is about, I would bet that Rien tells him that he is going to stop with the program earlier because he just wants to be with Femke. It will be counting down the days until next week again...
