From Buttery Blonde to Dirty: the 6 biggest hair trends of this spring

Now that some vitamin D has finally been released in the Netherlands, it means only one thing: time to dive back into that hairdresser's chair. I have no idea how it is for you, but every season for me is marked by a different hair color. During the summer, I am almost completely blonde, in the autumn I go back to my brown cut, in winter I like it as dark as possible, and now that spring is making its comeback, my locks could use a little extra life. In any case, there is no shortage of inspiration, as this season has brought a hefty dose of hair trends. Personally, I lean towards Buttery Blonde with long layers. How about you?

Buttery Blonde
For the perfect blonde hair color, we take a cue from Anyone But You actress Sydney Sweeney. Her blonde, always perfectly styled cut has ensured that we will see it non-stop this coming spring. Not only is this soft blonde shade easy to achieve, it is also low-maintenance, as the hair at the roots doesn't have to be super blonde at all. That saves you a few hours (and a whole lot of money) at the hairdresser.

Blunt bobs
We saw the bob come back last year with everyone and their mother, this time with the ‘blunt bob’ as the it-model. Hailey Bieber has been rocking it for months, so you know it's here to stay. Quite short, falls nicely casually, and no blow-dryer is needed. Just a pair of scissors through it and you've got it.

Long layers
Hate to break it to you, but long, straight hair that falls perfectly down is no longer in style. You want volume, and you get that with layers. Have you only had trauma from too short layers and prefer to play it a bit safer? Then long layers are the way to your heart. Throw a blow-dry brush through it and you create a voluminous blow-out for yourself, even you will be surprised.

90’s hairband
Do you remember those zigzag hairbands from back in the day that your mother forced on you? Well, bring them back because they are back. Yes, really. Earlier this year it was the headband, and now this is being replaced by a slightly less coarse frame. I must honestly admit: it has its charm. And besides, it's genuinely a handy addition for the warmer days, if they ever come.

Dirty Hair
Is your hair so greasy that you could supply an entire snack bar? Then wait another day before washing, because believe it or not: ‘dirty’ hair is becoming a trend. On the catwalks of spring 2024, we saw the ‘chicly greased’ cut making a massive appearance, and it seems Kylie Jenner has picked it up as well.

Caramel Swirl
For those who prefer to stick with brown but still want a fresh touch: caramel swirl is where it’s at. It gives your dark cut just that extra dimension without having to go to the salon every few weeks to touch it up. That's a plus.
