Criticism of Beyoncé over her haircare brand Cécred

Some time ago, Beyoncé launched her haircare brand Cécred. A logical step, as her mother has always had her own salon. Little Beyoncé and her friends performed there for the customers present (whether they wanted to see it or not), roughly from the moment she could talk.

Now she has her own haircare line and the reactions to it were enthusiastic. On the site, you fill out a questionnaire that gives you a proposal for which products and which step-by-step plan are best for your hair. A whole bunch of videos appeared on social media, from people who were thrilled with the results the products brought them.

The only one who showed none of her results was Beyoncé herself. And that is exactly where the criticism was aimed. According to critics, Beyoncé never shows her natural hair, which is of course striking when you sell hair products. It would make sense for her to also show how her own hair reacts to the products. Then her mother, Tina Knowles, reposted a video on her Instagram where a clever marketing girl explained what she thought was going on.

According to her, Beyoncé consciously chose not to appear in the marketing of the product because she wants the results of the real customers to be central. Still, she shared a video of herself on her own Instagram page on Monday morning, showing how she goes through all the steps of the Cécred routine. Fair is fair: even with Beyoncé, the result is clearly fantastic. I think I’ll order the personalized routine for myself...
