My disaster date was an evening I would rather forget quickly. My date, whom we will conveniently call Alex, had decided to cook for us. I know it's not very smart to meet someone at their home right away, but what could possibly go wrong? Everything started off reasonably normal, but it quickly took a bizarre turn.

Alex had prepared a dish that smelled strange according to him and asked me, before we sat down at the table, to smell his plate. At first, I thought it was some kind of weird joke, but I just went along with it. Before I could react, he shoved my face right into his steaming plate of food and started laughing hysterically.

Startled, I pulled my face back, with food remnants on my nose and forehead. My whole face hurt. From the heat of the food dripping from my face, but also from the force with which he had pushed the plate against my face. The whole situation was so awkward and strange. Alex kept laughing; he apparently found this completely normal. I, on the other hand, couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I excused myself, put on my coat, and left his apartment. As I closed the door behind me, I shouted that he didn't need to text me anymore. What an idiot. Luckily, he stuck to that, but this experience will surely remain etched in my memory as one of the most bizarre dates ever.
