Great sadness for Eloise of Orange

“They clearly had their sights set on my jewelry”

Countess Eloise of Orange, the daughter of Princess Laurentien and Prince Constantijn, announced on Instagram that her house in Amsterdam was broken into. “Yesterday, we were broken into in Amsterdam. It was clearly aimed at the jewelry, as almost all of it is gone: rings, necklaces, watches… Especially the jewelry that I received from my family over the years, that’s what I’m most upset about.”

Jewelry is of course more than just objects; they carry memories with them. While you might be able to buy new jewelry, such personal pieces are often irreplaceable. Moreover, the idea that strangers with malicious intent have been in your home is incredibly unsettling. Still, the countess remains optimistic: “In the end, it’s material, but also sentimental.” She concludes her message with: “What I’m most happy about is that we weren’t home last night and are therefore safe.”

Eloise's message receives a lot of support. No less than 14,000 people have liked her post and she received 434 sweet responses from friends and followers.

Let’s hope that the jewelry will find its way back to her.
