Good news: for that boost, you only need to walk for 20 minutes a day

By

You have a break. And you get some food and sit down again. No! Wrong. From now on, you are going to take twenty minutes to walk. Because it works wonders for your brain, research shows.

And yes, you only need 20 minutes for that. You always have that, right, in a day?

From interesting research in which people's brains were scanned, something remarkable is revealed. One person did not go for a walk, the other did. Twenty minutes. And then? During walking, the blood circulation is stimulated, which means that more oxygen-rich blood flows to your brain. This increases the amount of oxygen and nutrients your brain receives, which in turn improves your cognitive functions. More oxygen helps your brain think clearer and improves your focus and concentration. And people become more creative. Less tired. You literally see a difference on the brain scans – so it is scientifically proven.

And if you don't find that enough benefit? It’s also very good for the soul. Even a short walk increases the production of endorphins. These are the “happiness hormones” that create a feeling of happiness. They reduce stress and anxiety and gloom.

Do you know what I find so nice about this? That moving and exercising and everything is good for you, yes, blah blah… We know that by now. But: we are busy. Always busy. And so no time. Well, this motivates like no other: because twenty minutes of walking – just simple walking? That should be doable, right? Take your steps, hop. Your head will be happy with it.

And shh, if you find nature a bit boring? During shopping, the steps count too...
