How do you know for sure that you are not talking to a chatbot?

By

Since Rob Goossens found fame, thanks to RTL Boulevard, the ladies are at his feet. And it's not easy for everyone to resist that. In Rob's case, it wasn't about physical contact; he was chatting with a woman he met via Insta. Of course, the question arises where the line is when it comes to cheating. Does talking also fall under that? It's something everyone has to discuss in their own relationship and make agreements about. Now I must admit that I would find it difficult if my loved one had very deep conversations (and then also sexting) with another woman. Even if it doesn't lead to anything physical.

Because could it in Rob's case lead to a physical affair?

Since the messages between Rob and his love interest were made public, the discussion has been whether he was actually talking to a human. He mentioned that he had no idea what she looked like, had never seen her in real life, and most importantly: she responded unnaturally quickly to his messages, even with long texts. If you also think: ‘am I really chatting with that guy from Bumble or is it a Bot?’, you might want to check the following points.

Unnatural responses
Surprise: bots like ChatGPT have no emotions. What they can do is try to copy the emotion of the person they are talking to, so the conversation remains somewhat believable. But precisely by copying, you can find out that you are not talking to a real person. A bot will often reuse your words or even repeat its own sentences, just to stay in tune.

Super quick responses
Rob already mentioned it: he briefly saw the well-known 3 dots indicating that the other person was typing, and then received a whole block of text. That fits with the fact that bots have no emotion. People usually need some time to read a message and organize their thoughts before they can type a response.

Try asking a personal question
The easiest thing is, of course, to ask straight to the point if your conversation partner is a bot. But it could be that he has learned a better answer than ‘No, I'm not a bot’. But have you ever asked ChatGPT what its favorite restaurant is? Then you get a pretty clear answer: ‘I am AI so I don't eat myself’. Need I say more?

No deep conversations
For people who sometimes feel lonely, it might feel nice to chat with a chatbot from time to time. But real deep conversations are often not possible. This mainly has to do with the fact that ChatGPT is designed to solve problems. So if you tell a personal story about something that's bothering you, there's a good chance that only solutions will be offered, without further addressing the emotion.

When you read the points above, you might think the same as I do: obvious. You must be crazy not to notice that you are talking to a computer. Right? Well, in 2013 the movie ‘Her’ was released, in which a man falls in love with a bot and completely loses himself in it. Apparently, we haven't learned much from it, if it can still happen to us 11 years later.
