Just about Celine Dion and Adele

Ask me about my best moment of this year, and I say without a second of blinking: the concert of Adele in Munich. Ask me about the most moving documentary I saw, and I answer: I Am Celine, about how one of the greatest singers ever has all her happiness taken away by her Stiff Person syndrome.
Not even a fan – of Celine that is – I still fell in love with this woman. Her zest for life, her warmth, her civility. How wonderful it was to see her enjoy her fans, the attention, having fun together during the opening ceremony in Paris, culminating in her incredible performance on the Eiffel Tower. If anyone deserved it, it was Celine Dion. Because my daughters and I, after Adele's concert, hooked up all the available footage of her like an IV drip, I saw again that delightful 73 Questions with Adele, in which she revealed her most precious possession: a framed chewed gum from Celine Dion, which her friend James Corden had obtained for her during a Carpool Karaoke session with Celine.
For me, it was a beautiful scene that merged two highlights of this summer – to stay in the chewing gum metaphors. But then there was Vegas, where Adele is giving her last concerts. Although we are not there (10,000 euros per ticket is a bit too much for me), it is wonderful to take a daily shot of what-happened-in-Vegas through Instagram. And that’s where it happened. During the first performance in Vegas, we see Adele walking through the hall. Where she previously looked the other way when she saw a box with the Jenners and Kim Kardashian, she stopped here at Celine, her great idol. She cried so much that the application on her dress trembled, and Celine, bent over with her stiff little back, disappeared into the moment. Applause was requested and there stood Celine, waving and sobbing as a fragile centerpiece. How sweet. And beautiful. And then followed many videos of a Celine who was completely losing her mind. I wouldn't be surprised if she pops up in the background trio of Adele at the next concert. She is brave and crazy enough for it.
