Lifehack: this is how your luggage always comes out first on the conveyor belt

By

Despite the fact that I would prefer to pack up all my belongings, I choose to travel with a carry-on suitcase as much as possible. The reason for this is simple and I think recognizable for many: you don't have to wait at the baggage claim. I always thought it was quick and well organized at Schiphol, until I once waited for almost two hours after a vacation... In the middle of the night. And then you just want to be lying in your bed and recovering from the vacation and the flight.

I have also had it a few times that my suitcase was thrown onto the belt as the very last one, while the rest was already gone or waiting for me a bit grumpily. And maybe the worst part: after you have done your best to cram everything into one carry-on suitcase, you are still ordered to check it in the hold when you board. Aaaargh. The cabin crew can't do anything about it, of course, but it's still annoying.

That's why I have a good life hack for you when you're checking in your suitcase and you want to see it come out first on that conveyor belt. I must say that the success rate here is not 100 percent (unfortunately), but it is definitely worth it.

Here it comes: when checking in your suitcase, ask for a sticker with ‘Fragile’ on it. It costs about two euros at the check-in desk and is of course intended for suitcases filled with fragile materials, in other words, suitcases that need to be handled with care (so it's definitely handy to stick that sticker on). The idea is that the staff at baggage always load and unload these suitcases first. This way, you have to wait the least amount of time. Look, no broken items AND a great chance to be able to leave right away from the belt. Win-win situation, right?
