May meets David Beckham
Another bucket list checked off

My favorite activity from last week? Texting friends with whom I might have an appointment, with the following text: “Thursday unfortunately won't work for me, I have to go to London for work.” Of course, they would then respond with “Ah, no worries, are you doing something fun?”, to which I would reply: “It's not that great. I have a cocktail with David Beckham.” And then I would enjoy waiting for their oh’s and ah’s and all other expressions of intense jealousy. Blissful.
But it was true. A week earlier, I was walking with my little dog through the dunes, on a Wednesday afternoon, when I was called by Diego Salici from PR agency Glasnost. Apologizing for disturbing me on my mobile phone, but it was a bit urgent. Whether I could meet David Beckham in London next week… I didn’t hear the rest and it didn’t matter. Yes, was my answer (small Love Actually reference, you caught that, right?), no matter the case.
The inviting party turned out to be particularly interesting. Of course, because David has style and chooses his collaborations carefully. He has partnered with Bowers & Wilkins, the high-end brand for audio equipment, and that needed to be celebrated. In London. And did I mention it was with David Beckham?
To get into the mood, Diego sent me ‘something’. It was exactly what I hoped it would be: the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e (no idea what all that stands for, but something tells me they will explain it to me in London) in that beautiful and oh so trendy olive green. Ideal for impatient types like me who only understand the command to be still when you knock me down. With these headphones on, I can enjoy calling while folding laundry or unloading the dishwasher. And when I walk the dog or ride my bike, I can listen to Amy or Adele, and if someone calls me, I can answer with a tap. Or dismiss with two taps.
It's a party, in short, and David hasn't even been in the picture yet. How that went… I’ll tell you tomorrow.
