These are the women of the Menendez brothers

By
Menendez brothers

Now that everyone has fully digested the story of the Menendez brothers, more and more celebrities are starting to speak up for them. It seems that everyone has developed sympathy for these men, as more and more of their side of the story is leaking out. Now you might think: ‘these men are serving a life sentence, they must be very lonely there in prison.’ But the opposite turns out to be true. For both Erik and Lyle were married while they had been behind bars for years. They also met their loved ones while they had long since received their sentences.

Dating, but just a little different

Erik and Lyle murdered their parents Jose and Kitty in 1989. The brothers were thrown behind bars, and strangely enough, that usually means for famous and notorious murderers that bags full of letters are delivered to their cells. Apparently, it is a kind of fetish to fall for dangerous men. This is how Anna, who was a model and receptionist herself, started writing to Lyle in 1993. Their wedding was ultimately anything but romantic, as it had to be handled over the phone: Anna was at Lyle's lawyer's office, where Lyle gave her his vows over the phone. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that this happened on July 2, 1996. That is ’coincidentally’ also the day Lyle learned that he would remain incarcerated for the rest of his life. But in 2001, Anna filed for divorce because she found out that Lyle was cheating. How so? Well, he had letter contact with another woman. That may sound exaggerated, but if writing letters is the only form of contact you can have with your husband, I can imagine that you would be quite upset that he has that contact with others as well.

Yet they are not crazy, those women

Lyle remarried in 2003 to Rebecca. An intelligent woman, with whom he was allowed to step into the marriage boat in person. Rebecca is quite privacy-minded, so we don't know much about her and she also prefers not to share photos. She was previously a journalist, but since her relationship with Lyle, she has been working as a lawyer. She has once shared that she finds it difficult to make her marriage work.

Tammi literally opens up about her marriage to Erik Menendez

Erik has snagged a somewhat less privacy-minded woman. Tammi saw Erik on TV in 1993 and asked her then-husband if he was okay with her becoming pen pals with him. She got that permission, and fortunately so. Because when Tammi found out that her daughter was being abused by him, she left him immediately, to then quickly move on with Erik. They first met in 1997 and married two years later. There was no wedding cake; instead, they shared a Twinkie. Tammi wrote a whole book about her life with Erik, titled ‘They said we’d never make it’. Both women are still ‘happily married’ to the brothers, who are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole.
