Netflix provides an exciting Christmas with Carry-On

A bit of a Christmas movie has two characteristics: it is super sweet and a tad predictable. At Netflix, they are adjusting this standard recipe a bit this year. With a hefty tablespoon of action as the main ingredient. Thanks to their latest title ‘Carry-On’, the holidays will be thrilling. In this thriller, an airport security guard is blackmailed on Christmas Eve to get a mysterious package through customs.
Unwanted baggage
Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton) works as a security guard at an airport. It is his job to screen all passengers and baggage so that everyone can travel safely. With thousands of people on their way to family, it is quite busy on Christmas Eve . In all the hustle and bustle, Ethan is confronted with a mysterious traveler (Jason Bateman) who forces him to smuggle a dangerous package onto the plane. If he doesn't, his pregnant girlfriend Nora (Sofia Carson) will be in danger. Ethan faces an impossible dilemma: family comes first, but he also has the safety of the entire airport in his hands. He will have to do everything he can to find the traveler in time before his baggage causes a dramatic journey.
A little help
To make the film realistic, the creators enlisted the help of experienced airport security guards. They provided the actors with special training and were also present during filming to keep an eye on everything. Every detail was considered. From the areas of an airport where a security guard is allowed to go, to the strange objects that are sometimes found in baggage. The experts were also involved in the script, ensuring that the actors used the correct jargon. All of this makes the film feel even more authentic and adds just a bit more suspense.
A touch of Christmas
For those worried that the touch of Christmas will be completely overshadowed; no panic. There is plenty of holiday spirit to discover, although it is sometimes a bit subtle. The story takes place on Christmas Eve, which means you can spot plenty of decorations at the airport. And between all the action scenes, you will also hear a Christmas song from time to time. The director hopes that the film will be watched all year round.
If you're a bit tired of all the Hallmark Christmas movies and could use some excitement: ‘Carry-On’ is now available on Netflix.
