New on Netflix in December
3,2,1 everyone watch ‘The Holiday’

No, you didn't accidentally turn your calendar a month too far. It really is December again. But before we say goodbye to 2024 for good, Netflix is adding a lot of new titles. I'll go through the best movies and series with you so you can end this year with a bang.
Barbie (December 15)
The film of 2023 is finally coming to Netflix. ‘Barbie’ was the trip down memory lane we didn't know we needed. And having Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles was an extra treat. ‘Stereotypical Barbie’ lives the perfect life in Barbieland until she ends up in an existential crisis. She travels to the ‘real world’ and discovers that you can't always view life through rose-colored glasses. It's going to be (once again) enjoying a hefty dose of girl power.
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 3 (December 4)
Fan of Love Is Blind? Then you're going to love this series too. ‘The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On’ revolves around couples who all have one thing in common: they've been together for a long time, but a wedding hasn't happened yet because one of them just isn't ready. In this reality series, the couples are separated and start dating other candidates. “Trial marriages” are formed, and only after a few weeks does everyone return to their own partner. Then comes the moment of choice: will it finally lead to a wedding or is this the end of the relationship? This sounds like a recipe for a hefty dose of drama, right?
Bumblebee (December 1)
To be honest, I was never really a fan of the ‘Transformers’ movies. Those half-car half-robot figures didn't appeal to me. Until I saw ‘Bumblebee’; because this car is actually a very big robot with a very small heart. The heavily damaged Bumblebee is found on a deserted junkyard by 17-year-old Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld). As she repairs the little car, she discovers his true identity and the two form a special friendship. They need each other badly when Bumblebee's future is in danger. A good action movie that also makes you melt.
Parenthood multiple seasons (December 15)
In ‘Parenthood’, we follow the Braverman family with Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille (Bonnie Bedelia) at the helm. The couple has four adult children, each with their own family and a slightly different way of parenting. All those differences lead to necessary drama. There will surely be recognizable situations that we will have plenty to say about. Fortunately, we can give our unfiltered opinion on this series from the couch, without sparking the next family discussion ourselves.
Ferry 2 (December 20)
The most famous drug lord from Brabant is back. In ‘Ferry 2’, we continue where ‘Undercover’ season three left off. Ferry (Frank Lammers) tries to leave the criminal life behind and leads a reclusive existence. That changes when his cousin Jezebel (Aiko Mila Beemsterboer) needs him. Family comes first, and Ferry has no choice but to help her. She just doesn't know that her great-uncle was involved in the death of her father Jurgen. Ferry struggles with his conscience and all the dangers of the drug world. That promises something.
Schitt’s Creek season 1 to 6 (December 31)
Also on the very last day of the year, Netflix adds a real gem: all six seasons of the comedy ‘Schitt’s Creek’. In this series, we follow wealthy video store magnate Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy) who suddenly goes bankrupt. The life of luxury disappears as he moves with his family to the town of Schitt’s Creek; a place they once bought and is actually the only remnant of their once carefree life. That's certainly a bit of an adjustment.
The Holiday (December 1)
This remains one of my favorite Christmas movies. Even now Jude Law has somewhat stolen the Christmas magic as a true grinch. The humor and romance still win out every time. Because, do we remember: American Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and British Iris (Kate Winslet) leave their turbulent (love) lives behind for a moment and swap two weeks of home and life. They try to escape the holidays and everything related to love; but of course, that goes a bit differently.
