Does Sabrina Carpenter knock ‘Queen of Christmas’ Mariah off her throne?

By
Sabrina Carpenter

When you think of Christmas music, you think of Mariah Carey. Year after year, she effortlessly boosts her bank account, as the Christmas songs (which she released in 1994!) still seem to herald the Christmas season. As soon as it gets a little cold outside, we hear Mariah Carey scream: ‘It’s tiiiiiime!’, like a starting gun to legally blast ‘All I Want for Christmas’ through the speakers and scream along as if your life depends on it.

There seems to be a little pirate on the coast...

Michael Bublé has tried his best to take over Mariah's role, but he really can’t get past second place. Fine to put on his Christmas album during dinner, but then you just talk over it. You wouldn’t even think of doing that with Mariah. But now it seems someone else wants to take a shot at the title ‘Queen of Christmas’. Sabrina Carpenter is doing quite well, and her world tour ‘Short ’n Sweet’ is completely sold out. So maybe this is her chance for a serious Christmas hit?

Netflix is definitely fully behind it

On Apple TV+, you can watch a fantastic Christmas spectacle from Mariah Carey since 2020, featuring artists like Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and even Snoop Dogg. And so Netflix thought: ‘we can do that too’. Together with guest artists like Shania Twain, Tyla, and Chapell Roan, Sabrina will launch a special Christmas surprise on Netflix on December 7. The preview already promises a lot of good: we hear that she has replaced some words in the lyrics of at least one of her songs with ‘Christmas’. I know enough. On December 7, the ‘do not disturb’ function will be on my phone and I will watch ‘A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter’.
