This book has already been adapted into a film, and now Netflix is giving us the series

It feels like Netflix has been spoiling us a lot lately! One series after another is being announced, or true crime documentaries that have us all on edge, we certainly won't be bored at home this winter! But they keep going, as it was recently announced that the famous Dutch book ‘De Eetclub’, written by Saskia Noort, will now also become a series after being adapted into a film.

Almost half a million copies of the book were sold

Despite the fact that almost all of the Netherlands knows the story, it is still exciting enough to make it into a series. In the film that was made earlier, big names such as Bracha van Doesburgh and Halina Reijn played the leading roles. Strangely enough, despite this star cast, there was still quite a bit of criticism of the film. The story was said to lack the depth of the book, and thus it did not become the big success they had hoped for.

Maybe the series will be a huge international success

The series will be streamable via Netflix, and not just for Dutch viewers: it will be released internationally, in the hope that the story will finally receive the appreciation it deserves. To help this along a bit, they are ensuring that the characters and the story get just a bit more depth, so that it comes closer to the book, but of course even more exciting... We'll have to wait a little longer, though. The series is only scheduled for 2026 on Netflix.
